NATO has initiated the Drone Edge program, aimed at the development and acquisition of modern capabilities for detecting and combating drones, in response to the challenges posed by their use in conflicts.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense explained that drones have revolutionized the way warfare is conducted, and the program is an adaptation of NATO's capabilities to this new reality. Drone Edge aims not only at the acquisition of anti-drone technologies but also at training a larger number of operators and cooperation among allied states. With investments of over 40 billion dollars in the coming years, the program will facilitate the rapid acquisition of tested systems. The Ministry emphasizes that an effective anti-drone system involves the detection, identification, and tracking of drones, essential aspects for a rapid response. Romania's participation in Drone Edge contributes to strengthening NATO's collective defense in the face of future challenges.
