The Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan criticized Germany for what he called its ignorance regarding the situation in Gaza, including concerning 'genocide', famine, and Israel's attacks. During a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized that Israel possesses nuclear weapons and other types of armaments that it uses against Gaza, while the militant group Hamas does not have such resources.

He mentioned that, despite the ceasefire, Israel continued its attacks on Gaza. Erdogan urged Germany and other countries to take humanitarian responsibility to end the famine and massacres in the region, rhetorically asking whether Germany does not observe these realities.
