Donald Trump will have a meeting with Sanae Takaichi, the first female Prime Minister of Japan, on October 28. Takaichi, a prominent figure in Japanese conservative politics, is known for her traditionalist views, such as opposition to same-sex marriage and support for exclusive male succession in the imperial family. Discussions between Trump and Takaichi will focus on trade between the US and Japan, as well as security and defense issues. Trump began his three-day visit to Japan on October 27, with his first stop at the Imperial Palace, where he met with Emperor Naruhito, being the first foreign leader to meet him after his ascension to the throne. Trump also secured a $550 billion investment promise from Japan in exchange for the suspension of import tariffs.
