Donald Trump continues his Asian tour, with the main objective of finding a trade compromise with China, during a scheduled meeting with Xi Jinping. The American president expressed optimism regarding the conclusion of a 'good deal', which led to a record increase in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. After a visit to Malaysia, Trump signed trade agreements with several Asian countries and a peace treaty between Cambodia and Thailand. In Tokyo, Trump will meet with Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. Japan, which is not affected by Trump's protectionism, will increase its defense budget to 2% of GDP. Trade negotiations with South Korea are also ongoing, and the main topic remains China, where Trump aims to reduce the trade deficit. Washington is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Beijing, despite recent threats to cancel the meeting due to restrictions imposed by China on rare metals.
