The flood crisis in Punjab, caused by torrential rains, melting glaciers, and the opening of dams in India, has resulted in 15 deaths and the mass evacuation of over 210,000 people. Pakistani authorities have issued evacuation alerts and are expecting heavy rains until September 2. The President of NDMA emphasized the link between the intensification of rains and climate change, warning of an intensification of the monsoon from 2026. The current situation is reminiscent of the devastating floods of 2022.
