A violent flood affected the Grand Canyon in Arizona, causing the evacuation of dozens of visitors. According to the National Park Service (NPS), over 20 people were still reported missing on Sunday, and authorities have requested information from those who were in the area at the time of the flood.
The phenomenon was generated by Bright Angel Creek, a watercourse that flows into the Colorado River. The force of the waters destroyed bridges, rocks, and metal structures, radically changing the appearance of the area, with the riverbed widening significantly. Additionally, a new ledge has appeared on the Colorado River, according to reports from the AP news agency. Authorities continue the search for the missing persons.
