More than 100 firefighters, supported by aircraft and firefighting vehicles, are battling a vegetation fire in Ano Souli, near Athens. Authorities have issued evacuation orders for residents of Ano Souli and Maraton. Greece is facing increasingly frequent and devastating wildfires, exacerbated by climate change, and the country has invested heavily in firefighting equipment. Last year, similar fires had tragic consequences, and in 2023, another major blaze claimed lives.
