Democratic lawmakers from the House Oversight Committee have stated that the actions of the Department of Justice (DoJ) represent the largest government cover-up in modern history. They are demanding answers after NPR reported that the DoJ blocked the release of documents related to sexual assault allegations against Donald Trump, which also included mentions of Jeffrey Epstein. The unpublished documents include FBI notes regarding the 2019 interrogations of a woman who claimed she was assaulted by Trump and Epstein in her youth.
Democrats assert that the DoJ illegally withheld these interrogations, accusing it of serious concealment. In response, the DoJ stated that it did not delete anything, but only withheld duplicate documents or those under legal restriction. Epstein's victims expressed outrage over the censorship of the documents and the lack of action against the accomplices. Donald Trump denies any involvement in Epstein's criminal behavior.
