An investigation conducted by The Guardian discovered how the Trump administration influences energy projects in Bosnia, particularly through the company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy, which is on the verge of securing contracts worth over 1 billion dollars for the construction of a gas pipeline. This company has direct ties to Donald Trump, including through lawyers who have worked with his family.

The gas pipeline project, which could reduce Bosnia's dependence on Russian gas, is supported by American officials, despite AAFS's lack of demonstrable experience. Additionally, there has been no competitive bidding process, raising questions about the transparency and fairness of this endeavor.

Dodik, the ultranationalist leader of the Bosnian Serbs, has sought to improve relations with the Trump administration, despite previous sanctions imposed by Biden. Recently, he indicated that he would not block the gas pipeline project, which could facilitate its completion. This situation highlights the complexity of international relations and the risks of corruption in the context of economic and political interests in the region.
