David Ellison, the CEO of Paramount Skydance, stated that he will move the company's operations out of California if the antitrust lawsuit filed by 12 U.S. states is not resolved by September 30.
This merger with Warner Bros Discovery, which includes the Warner Bros and HBO studios, was initially won by Netflix, but Ellison managed to obtain Warner Bros' approval after it withdrew from negotiations. The deal is controversial due to Ellison's political ties to the Republican Party, having implications for the control of CNN. Ellison warned that starting October 1, Paramount will incur penalties of $7 million per day to Warner Bros Discovery shareholders, which could lead to debts of $1.2 billion by the time the process is completed, scheduled for 2027.
In the case of relocation, the company has not yet decided on a new destination, considering states such as Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee. This decision could lead to massive resignations and layoffs among employees.
