The Croatian investigative journalist Domagoj Margetic has filed a complaint with prosecutors in Milan against the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, accusing him of involvement in the 'Safari Sarajevo' affair. This refers to the alleged participation of snipers from Italy and other countries in the killing of civilians during the siege of Sarajevo, between 1992 and 1996. Prosecutors in Milan have begun an investigation to identify the individuals involved, accused of aggravated voluntary manslaughter.
The complaint was initiated by Ezio Gavazzeni, a writer from Milan, who gathered evidence and was inspired by a documentary on this subject. Margetic posted evidence on social media, claiming that Vucic, then a young volunteer, was present at military posts from where shots were fired at civilians. Gavazzeni stated that many foreign citizens, including Italians, paid to participate in these actions, without political or religious motives, but for fun. Vucic has not commented on the allegations but has previously denied his involvement in attacks on the city.
