On Thursday, in the capital Nairobi, the police intervened with tear gas and gunfire to disperse a huge crowd that had gathered at a stadium to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who passed away in India. Chaos erupted when the crowd broke through the arena's gate, and security agents tried to control the situation. Odinga, a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, died of a heart attack, and state funerals are scheduled for Friday. The public ceremony was moved to the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani due to the large number of attendees. Thousands of supporters came to pay their respects, and the family stated that Odinga wished for a quick burial, ideally within 72 hours.
