The USA is set to strike Iran with a missile they have never used in war / What is "Dark Eagle"

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has requested the deployment of the American military's hypersonic missile "Dark Eagle" in the Middle East, with the aim of striking ballistic missile launchers located deep within Iranian territory, Bloomberg reports.

If the plan is approved, it would be the first time the United States deploys this hypersonic weapon on the ground, which has faced major delays and has not yet been declared fully operational, while Russia and China have already deployed their own versions.

This measure is justified by the fact that Iran has positioned its launchers beyond the range of American missiles, which can strike targets located over 480 km away.

What is the "Dark Eagle" missile?

The "Dark Eagle" missile has a range of approximately 2,700 km and can reach speeds of over 6,100 km/h, being capable of evading air defense systems.

The cost of each missile, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, is estimated at around 15 million dollars. The U.S. does not possess more than eight such missiles.

The deployment of such a missile would also send a message to Russia and China about the advanced technologies of the U.S.

According to Axios, Admiral Brad Cooper will inform President Donald Trump about possible additional actions, including "short and powerful" strikes against Iranian infrastructure, to compel Tehran to return to the negotiating table. The U.S. continues to prepare its forces, considering that cruise missile stocks have already been largely used in the conflict.
