Before the announcement of a possible new American campaign, The New York Times reported that the US and Israel were preparing a short and intense operation after the November 3 American elections. The two countries’ militaries had reportedly intensified exercises and offensive maneuvers with aircraft over Iraq, while US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth met in Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss possible attacks on targets considered relevant to Iran’s nuclear program and arsenal.
Against the backdrop of these preparations, Iran sent warning messages and indicated that it had “weapons and targets that have not yet been attacked,” including undersea internet cables, data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and oil and gas facilities. The Revolutionary Guards announced nationwide military exercises and the launch of 30 ballistic missiles, while US officials also discussed attack options that included using the GBU-43/B bomb (“the mother of all bombs”) in scenarios involving the resumption of operations.
