The new plant, which is expected to create about 5,000 jobs, will be able to produce up to 150,000 electric vehicles a year. The deal comes amid mounting pressure on Chinese electric car makers in the EU and the US, where additional tariffs have been imposed. BYD has been rapidly expanding production facilities outside China, with plans for factories in Hungary, Thailand and Mexico.
