Toyota, the Japanese auto giant, has announced that it will invest up to 10 billion dollars in the United States over the next five years, which will bring the company's total investments in the U.S. to nearly 60 billion dollars since it began operations in the country. This decision comes amid pressures from Washington for Japan to invest 550 billion dollars on American soil in exchange for reduced tariffs. Although Toyota has not provided details about specific projects or a timeline for these investments, the company has approximately 50,000 employees in the U.S. and 11 factories, including a recently inaugurated battery plant in North Carolina. Additionally, Toyota estimates that the tariffs imposed by the U.S. will significantly impact its operational profit in the coming years.
