BYD, a major Chinese automaker, will carry out the largest recall in its history, involving 115,000 vehicles from the Tang and Yuan Pro series, manufactured between 2015 and 2022. The Chinese market regulatory authority has confirmed that the recall is necessary due to design defects and safety risks associated with the batteries. The company has requested the recall of 44,535 vehicles from the Tang series, produced between March 2015 and July 2017, due to design defects that may affect the normal operation of components. Additionally, 71,248 Yuan Pro vehicles, manufactured between February 2021 and August 2022, will be withdrawn due to manufacturing issues related to battery installation. This is not the company's first recall; in January, BYD recalled 6,843 hybrid SUVs due to fire risks, and in September 2024, it withdrew nearly 97,000 Dolphin and Yuan Plus models due to a failure in the steering control unit.
