The Japanese corporation Makita, a global leader in the production of power tools, is reconfiguring its production chain, moving part of the production intended for the American market from China to Romania and Thailand. This decision is influenced by the trade tensions between the United States and China, which have generated tariffs and uncertainties in exports. The Makita unit in Romania, located in Brănești, will play a crucial role in this strategy, considering the constant expansion of the factory, which aims to double its production capacity.

To support this expansion, Makita has invested in the construction of a new storage hall and has launched a recruitment campaign, estimating an increase in the workforce to over 3,500 employees. The company reported remarkable financial performance, with a turnover of 2.1 billion lei in 2020 and a net profit of 159 million lei. Thus, Makita Romania has strengthened its presence in the country, becoming a strategic production center in Europe, alongside Germany and the United Kingdom.
