Bulgaria is preparing to give up the leva and adopt the euro on January 1, thus becoming the 21st country in the eurozone. This change has been anticipated with enthusiasm, but also with skepticism, especially in the context of the internal political crisis. Although companies support the accession, surveys show that the population is divided, with many fearing rising prices and having reservations about the political class. Preparations for the change are visible in stores, where prices are displayed in both currencies. Analysts emphasize that a weak information campaign and governmental instability could complicate the transition. However, some citizens, especially the youth, welcome the adoption of the euro for facilitating travel and commercial transactions.
