Bulgaria is analyzing the possibility of requesting a waiver from the American sanctions imposed on the company Lukoil, fearing that these measures could cause severe fuel shortages and political instability. The Burgas refinery, owned by Lukoil, supplies up to 80% of the country's fuel needs. The Bulgarian government has contacted Washington to understand the procedure for requesting an extension of the sanctions' implementation deadline, which is set to come into effect on November 21. At the same time, Hungary is also seeking a waiver, considering that it depends on Russian oil supplies. The sanctions will also affect Romania and Moldova, where Lukoil holds a significant market share. Romania is analyzing the impact of the sanctions and Lukoil's plan to sell its international businesses to ensure compliance with economic security regulations.
