Prime Minister Rumen Radev stated that Bulgaria will officially oppose the 21st package of European Union sanctions against Russia, during a plenary session of the Parliament in Sofia. Radev justified the decision by protecting Bulgaria's national interest, ensuring that it will not affect the country's relations with its allies. He mentioned that he had recent meetings with leaders from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, emphasizing that Bulgaria maintains excellent ties with the European Union and NATO. The Prime Minister also expressed Bulgaria's support for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, stating that it will not support documents that do not contribute to resolving the conflict. The 21st sanctions package proposed by the European Commission targets key sectors, such as energy and financial services, and requires the approval of all EU member states to come into effect. It includes measures against the Russian commercial fleet and a ban for Russian soldiers wishing to travel to Europe.
