According to the latest data, the purchasing power standard (PPS) in Bulgaria is 13,079 euros, compared to 13,023 euros in Romania and 12,436 euros in Greece. This development highlights Bulgaria's rapid economic progress since joining the European Union in 2007. PPS is a measure that reflects the real value of money in different countries, facilitating comparisons of living standards.

In the Balkan region, non-EU countries such as Turkey, Serbia, and North Macedonia have significantly lower purchasing power. Additionally, Bulgaria surpasses other Central European countries, such as Slovakia and Hungary. This economic rise of Bulgaria highlights a notable improvement in the economic situation of its citizens, both in relation to neighboring countries in the region and to other EU member states.
