In the context of the crisis in Gaza, Romania has decided to take the initiative and transport injured individuals from the Gaza Strip using its own military planes, despite the refusal of other European states to accept patients. The documentary published by the Wall Street Journal follows the stories of evacuated families who, after receiving medical care, remained in Romania, also benefiting from integration counseling. Although many of the evacuees did not know about Romania before arriving here, they now hope to bring their relatives who remained in Gaza.
Raed Arafat, the coordinator of the evacuation missions, stated that Romania has carried out 10 missions, bringing 108 patients and 271 companions, of which 52 patients and 136 companions have remained in the country. Since the beginning of the crisis, 3,000 patients have been evacuated, and 16,000 are waiting for help. Fawzia Rehejeh, who helps evacuated women adapt, emphasizes that the real challenge begins now, after evacuation.
