Amendments to Bulgaria's Road Traffic Act introduce tougher penalties for traffic violations, such as fines for speeding and using emergency lanes. For example, the fine for driving in the emergency lane starts from 1,000 leva and can go up to 4,000 leva. Speed limits are maintained on highways and strict regulations are set for electric scooters. One-day vignettes for cars are also introduced and tolls will be differentiated according to vehicle and road characteristics.
