Workers in Berlin discovered a 100-kilogram bomb in a navigable canal, most likely dating from World War II. Authorities decided to evacuate 5,600 homes to allow for the intervention of bomb disposal experts.

The projectile was brought to the surface, but transporting it to a range was considered too dangerous. Thus, the engineers opted for neutralizing the munition on-site. The police established a safety zone with a radius of 500 meters, and specialists used a high-pressure water jet to cut the bomb, detonating it through a controlled explosion.

The operation was successfully completed, and locals were authorized to return home.

Nearly 200 police officers were mobilized to secure the area, and an emergency shelter was opened at a nearby school. The elderly in a nursing home were instructed to stay away from windows, and bus lines operated on detour routes until the restrictions were lifted.
