The discovery took place at the end of last summer, in a wooded area at the border between Brandenburg and Berlin. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) suspects that this is a secret hideout intended for the kinetic operations of Russian intelligence services.

One suspect has been arrested in Romania, being involved in the arrangement of the depot.

The authorities warn that Russian services are planning assassinations in Germany, targeting personalities from industry and opposition. The hideout has been left intact to monitor possible organizers, but is now considered decommissioned, and the weapons have been modified to no longer pose a threat.

This discovery serves as a reminder of the methods used by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, when such depots were common in Western Europe.
