Germany faced a second sabotage attempt on its electrical grid on Tuesday evening, with local police announcing on Wednesday that they are investigating an attack on a transformer station near the town of Bergheim, located in the west of the country, Reuters reports.
Although the incident did not affect the power supply, the extent of the damage remains unclear.
At the same time, an explosion occurred at a train station in Augsburg, injuring two people slightly.
Also on Tuesday, earlier, an act of sabotage took place in the state of Brandenburg, where unexploded incendiary devices damaged power lines, causing short circuits.
The Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg, Jan Redmann, suggested that the attack could be linked to foreign powers or leftist activists.
Additionally, the German government has concluded that Russia is responsible for a drone attack attempt at Leipzig Airport, which led to response measures, including the closure of a Russian consulate.
This situation arises in a delicate political context, as the far-right AfD party gains popularity.
