The power supply was restored on Wednesday in the southwest of Berlin, after a power outage caused by an attack that sparked a fire at a power plant. The incident, which occurred on January 3 and was claimed by leftist activists, led to the longest power outage in the German capital since World War II, affecting approximately 45,000 households and over 2,000 businesses. Berlin's mayor, Kai Wegner, stated that restoring electricity was a complex process but essential for the affected residents, who were left without heating in sub-zero temperatures. The extremist group Volcano claimed responsibility for the attack, and the German army was mobilized to assist the affected communities. Politicians are now calling for additional investments to protect infrastructure, considering the increasing risks posed by leftist militants.
