The largest power plant in Brandenburg, located in Jänschwalde, was the target of an attack with homemade explosive devices on Tuesday morning.
One of the devices exploded at a transformer at the Preilack substation, causing damage to several power lines and a brief interruption of electricity supply. The police were alerted by the plant's employees, who noticed the damage and reported the incident. Although several devices were discovered, not all detonated, and no one was injured.
The plant operator, LEAG, confirmed the attack and mentioned that a technical deficiency was identified, but the connection to the incident is under investigation. The Brandenburg police have taken over the case, and the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) has launched an investigation. Authorities assured that the overall electricity supply was not affected and requested information from the public regarding the perpetrators of the attack.
