Avelo Airlines, a low-cost airline from the United States, announced that it will cease deportation flights until January 27, according to an official statement. The company, which signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security in April 2025 to carry out these flights, has faced protests and boycott campaigns. The decision to stop deportation flights reflects a strategic shift, with Avelo wanting to focus exclusively on commercial passenger transport.

Although deportation flights generated additional revenue, they also brought operational complexity, inconsistent with the company's current priorities. Avelo Airlines operated 17% of the over 11,000 deportation flights documented by the NGO Human Rights First between January and November 2025.
