Australia has decided to ban the entry of individuals with Iranian passports for tourism and business purposes for six months, as a result of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. The Ministry of Home Affairs explained that this measure is necessary due to the risks associated with temporary visa holders who may not leave Australia upon their expiration. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis, including for the parents of Australian citizens. The Minister of Home Affairs, Tony Burke, emphasized that many visitor visas were issued before the conflict and that decisions regarding permanent residency must be carefully considered. Australia has had tensions with Iran, especially after granting asylum to the players of the Iranian women's football team, who refused to sing the national anthem. This decision has generated negative reactions from Iranian authorities, and concerns about pressure on the families of those who remained in Australia have increased.
