On Sunday morning, a shooting in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana, resulted in the deaths of eight people, including a one-year-old child. Among the victims are two women who survived, despite being shot in the head, and a young boy injured after jumping from a rooftop.
The suspect was shot dead by police after committing a carjacking. The attacks occurred in at least four distinct locations, and authorities are investigating the circumstances, suggesting a possible domestic conflict. Mayor Tom Arceneaux described the incident as extremely tragic for the community.
As of now, in 2026, there have been at least six mass shooting attacks in the U.S., according to the Gun Violence Archive. In another incident, five people were shot in Iowa City, and authorities continue their investigations. The high number of shootings has generated calls for legislative reforms in the area of firearms, but Congress has not passed significant measures.
