After a teenage girl died in a school bus crash, 49 drivers were found drink or drug-driving during an inspection of 9,000 buses.

Of the 49 drivers who tested positive, 44 had taken drugs, while five were found under the influence of alcohol. The French transport minister pointed out that some drivers had managed to disconnect alcohol-testing devices, calling on bus companies to test drivers regularly. Checks are also taking place nationwide to prevent such situations.
