Prof. Univ. Dr. Simin – Aysel Florescu, the manager of the Victor Babeș Infectious Diseases and Tropical Hospital in the Capital, announced that Casa Doru, a ward opened 30 years ago for children with HIV, will continue to receive patients with this infection.
Although the number of children with HIV has significantly decreased, Casa Doru will remain available for necessary cases. Florescu emphasized that most adult patients benefit from effective treatments and are treated on an outpatient basis, while hospitalizations for HIV are rare, generally being social cases, such as homeless individuals or drug users.
These patients are few, and the rest receive regular medical care without needing hospitalization.
