The project "Creation, Operation and Development of the National Cancer Competence Center" (NCCC), coordinated by the 'Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță' Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca, brings together 11 partners from the academic and medical environment, aiming to modernize and standardize oncological services in Romania. The NCCC coordinator, Dr. Patriciu Achimaș-Cadariu, emphasizes the importance of implementing the National Cancer Control and Combat Plan, mentioning that the CNCC will contribute to standardizing services to provide patients with the same treatment opportunities as in Western Europe. The NCCC project focuses on five main directions: prevention, early detection, personalized diagnosis, targeted treatment, and care/palliative care. Additionally, cancer registries will be digitized to assess the quality of medical care and patient survival. The CNCC will collaborate with European networks, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and resources. Achimaș-Cadariu underscores the need for a coherent national cancer prevention strategy, involving all health professionals. The project includes partners from various regions of the country and private companies, with the ultimate goal of improving oncological management through innovative and digitized solutions.
