Starting from October 1st, young people up to 26 years old can benefit for free from the anti-HPV vaccine, thus expanding the accessibility of immunization which was previously limited. Vaccination consists of three doses and protects against HPV strains associated with cervical cancer, a serious problem in Romania, where the mortality rate is significantly higher than the European average. Experts emphasize the importance of vaccination for boys as well, and immunization is carried out based on a medical prescription.
