A recent UN report shows that the updated plans of states for combating climate change have had a minimal impact on reducing global warming.

These plans, imposed every five years by the Paris Agreement, could reduce future temperatures by about 0.3 °C, but the withdrawal of the United States from these efforts will add a tenth of a degree to warming. The increase in global average temperature is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, and national plans must detail measures to reduce them. If nations keep their promises, a rise of 2.3 to 2.5 °C is estimated, while current policies place the world on a trajectory of 2.8 °C.

The withdrawal of the U.S. under the Trump administration significantly affected climate prospects, while the plan presented by the Biden administration promised significant reductions in emissions.
