According to the Global Carbon Budget annual report, global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels are set to reach a new record of 38.1 billion tons in 2025, with an increase of 1.1% compared to the previous year. The study highlights that the implementation of renewable technologies is not sufficient to offset the growing energy demand. With only 170 billion tons of CO2 available to limit global warming to 1.5 °C, researchers believe that achieving this goal is becoming practically impossible. Additionally, emissions in the US and EU have increased, despite recent downward trends, while in China, emissions have remained stable. However, 35 countries have managed to reduce emissions while recording economic growth. The study emphasizes that, despite progress in some regions, global efforts to reduce emissions are insufficient.
