During a debate in Tulcea, Environment Minister Mircea Fechet said that the Danube Delta needs special attention to ensure a balance between tourism, agriculture, fishing and other activities. He emphasized the importance of a management plan to improve the ecological and social situation of the area, given that the local population is declining. Fechet proposed funding programmes for essential investments such as waste management and drinking water supply, recognizing the frustration of communities who do not benefit from the resources generated by the Danube Delta.
