Today, the cold Arctic air will continue to affect all regions of Great Britain, with additional snowfall expected in areas exposed to northern winds, especially in northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, western Wales, southwestern England, and parts of eastern England. The Meteorological Office has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice in these regions. Although many places will remain dry with winter sunshine, the temperature will be perceived as cold, with icy patches. Maximum temperatures will only reach -2C in certain parts of Scotland and, generally, between 1 and 3C in other areas. Snowfall will begin to diminish this afternoon and evening, leaving a cold night with frost and ice. On Tuesday, the weather will become slightly milder, but snowfall is expected on the high grounds of Scotland and northern England. Towards the evening and during the night, a new area of rain, sleet, and mountain snow will affect the southern half of the United Kingdom, but the snowfall is not expected to be as intense or disruptive as in previous days.
