On Sunday, 8 candidates are disputing the position of president of the Buzău County Council, which became vacant after Lucian Romașcanu was appointed as a member of the European Court of Auditors. Until the elections, the responsibilities have been taken over by Vice President Adrian Petre. In the county, 424 polling stations are prepared, expecting 363,357 voters. The candidates come from various parties, including PSD, AUR, PNL-USR, ACT, SOS România, POT, and PRM, as well as one independent. Marcel Ciolacu, a former prime minister, benefits from the support of PSD Buzău, which has a solid electoral base. The campaign has been active online, without major incidents, although a controversial episode involved standees with the candidates' faces. Mihai Răzvan Moraru has been the most active on social media, but he was warned by the Electoral Office for a post considered defamatory. The electoral debates had limited participation, with the absence of some important candidates.
