Over 200 teachers, writers, directors, and researchers from the Romanian Academy have submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Education, led by Daniel David, requesting a complete overhaul of the Romanian Language and Literature curriculum for the 9th grade. The signatories, including prominent figures such as Mircea Cărtărescu and Radu Jude, warn that the proposed new curriculum brings back an outdated model, disconnected from the realities of students. They criticize the fact that the curriculum ignores recent scientific and educational advancements, contains serious errors, and discourages reading, risking an increase in functional illiteracy. The memorandum includes arguments and documents that justify the request for rewriting the curriculum, emphasizing the need to adapt to the current needs of students.
