The government has approved financial incentives for graduates who achieved a 10 average in the national baccalaureate examination and the 2026 national assessment. A total of 100 students with outstanding results will be rewarded.
Each of the 93 high school graduates who achieved a 10 average in the baccalaureate examination will receive 5,000 lei. Of these, 70 achieved the maximum score in the June–July session, one in the special session, and 22 in the German-language baccalaureate examination.
Another seven eighth-grade graduates who completed the national assessment with a 10 average will receive 2,000 lei each. The Ministry of Education says the incentives are intended to recognize academic performance and encourage students to continue their studies.
The awarding of prizes to students with a 10 average began 11 years ago and is aimed at supporting outstanding achievement in pre-university education.
The decision comes as Romania remains last in the European Union in terms of education spending as a share of GDP. According to the latest Eurostat data, for 2023, allocations amounted to 2.97% of GDP, compared with the European average of 4.7%.»,
