Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that education will not suffer additional budget cuts, apart from those already implemented through reform package 1, which increased teaching norms and reduced scholarships. Bolojan emphasized that the adopted measures have led to a decrease in budget expenditures from 14.2 billion lei to 13.7 billion lei, a reduction of 500 million. The teaching norm of 20 hours per week, increased from 18 hours, will remain in effect. Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Executive is discussing a draft Emergency Ordinance that limits the salary-pension accumulation in the public sector. The government can adopt a memorandum by which certain categories of personnel may be exempted from the measures, but at this moment, there is no exception for Education. Unions in education have criticized the Executive's intentions to reduce personnel expenses, calling on the parties to abandon these measures.
