Weak internal demand from China, not American tariffs, is the main reason for the surplus of Chinese products in the EU, which affects local manufacturers.

According to the Economic Bulletin of the European Central Bank, weak domestic demand in China is the main factor contributing to the surplus of Chinese products in European markets, sold at dumping prices. This negatively affects domestic producers in the EU. Although pressures have increased for the European Union to take action against imports from China, the ECB emphasizes that the increase in Chinese exports to the EU began before the recent trade tensions and coincides with a decline in domestic demand in China, which started in 2021 due to the real estate crisis. This situation has led to a reduction in housing investments and negatively impacted the Chinese economy.
