Statistical data shows that Germany's exports to the USA significantly decreased in 2025, recording a decline of 7.4% in the first eight months, down to 99.6 billion euros. This decrease is attributed to the USA's tariff policy, particularly the reintroduction of tariffs by Donald Trump, which affected the demand for German goods. At the same time, exports to China also fell more drastically, by 13.5%, reaching 54.7 billion euros.
On the other hand, imports from China increased by 8.3%, raising concerns about Germany's growing dependence on this trading partner. In the period from January to August 2025, trade with China totaled 163.4 billion euros, surpassing trade with the USA, which amounted to 162.8 billion euros. This change marks a return of China to the forefront of Germany's trading partners, after the USA dominated trade in 2024. Economists warn that the decline in exports and the increase in imports from China could intensify tensions in key industries.
