In an extraordinary session, senators adopted on Monday two laws aimed at ensuring the financial stability of Romanians affected by unforeseen situations.
The first law targets countering the effects of the real estate crisis caused by the cyber attack on the National Agency for Cadastre, which led to the blockage of the IT infrastructure. This situation has created difficulties for many Romanians, especially for those who have taken out loans to purchase homes. Thus, the senators decided to extend the deadline until September 30 for concluding housing contracts with a 9% VAT.
The second law introduces a dynamic excise mechanism for fuels, which will allow for a gradual reduction of the excise between 5% and 25%, depending on market prices.
