By the end of the year, Romania will have the technology to print euro banknotes, according to the NBR.

Cristian Popa, President of the Numismatic Commission of the National Bank of Romania (NBR), announced that Romania will have all the necessary technological equipment to print euro banknotes by the end of the year. Investments in state-of-the-art equipment will allow both the printing of banknotes and the production of euro coins according to ECB standards. Production will depend on the necessary accreditations and the fulfilment of the Maastricht criteria. The NBR will comply with ECB requirements for the design of euro coins and banknotes, which are in the process of being redesigned.
