The BNR will issue a colored coin on October 27 dedicated to Lucian Blaga, marking 130 years since his birth.

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) will launch on October 27, 2025, a coin made of tombac themed 'Lucian Blaga - 130 years since his birth', this being the first colored coin issued by BNR. On the occasion of this event, Adrian Popa, a member of the BNR Board of Administration, will present the coin and its design at a symposium dedicated to Blaga, organized in Cluj.

The symposium will also include the opening of the exhibition 'Portraits of Banknotes - 130 years since the birth of Lucian Blaga', which will showcase various materials related to banknotes, including the printed sheet and premiere banknote designs. Lucian Blaga is already featured on the 200 lei banknote from 2006 and was on the 5,000 lei banknote in the '90s. The coin will be available for sale at BNR's regional branches in several cities.
