The Ministry of Finance of Romania is working on an emergency ordinance to implement a dynamic excise mechanism for fuels, announced by Alexandru Nazare after the Eurogroup meeting. This mechanism aims to temper the rise in pump prices, thus responding to external shocks and adjusting excises based on international fluctuations. Nazare emphasized the importance of coordination with European partners to limit the impact of the energy crisis, considering the more difficult economic context compared to 2022. Romania will continue to adopt prudent measures, maintaining budgetary discipline and fiscal consolidation objectives, alongside targeted and temporary solutions to address current economic challenges.
